A nice quiet chilled out pub with a fireplace. It looks great! The kind of place I love to spend some time.
The beer was good too. Had Diawl Bach from Heavy Industry, which was a tasty little devil. Followed it with Liverpool Organic El Dorado, my favourite beer to mispronounce! -

A lovely quaint little pub tucked away in the Georgian quarter of Liverpool. Well stocked with the famous Liverpool gin served with either watermelon chunks or orange and mint, both taste divine. Friendly staff and clientele on the Friday afternoon when 7 of us descended on them. Really cosy atmosphere, the kind of place you could imagine making new friends without even meaning to. Definitely one to go back to.

Surprisingly few people know of this place and when you visit you will be glad of it. The Belvedere feels like it is in its own little world, its own time and place to be exact. Being very, very small it instantly has a cosy feel to it and in winter time once you are inside next to one of the roaring log fires you will be very reluctant to leave.
Its modest size also means that it is easy striking up conversation and being dragged into one by its regular friendly, older clientel. Standing at the bar one night I was surprised to see several men walk in decked in full tuxedo and bow tie outfits. Thinking this was a bit formal I was told they are part of the Philharmonic Orchestra, who just like to nip out at the interval for a quick swifty - no busy Phil bar for these fellas, just a good old half of bitter at The Belvedere to get the creative juices going for the second half. These old chaps come here because there is no Sky Sports, no queues and always new guest ales from speciality breweries. Even though it's in town, The Belvedere feels like a local pub in which everyone knows each other. -

It's tiny in here! I've never really noticed The Belvedere before until I was wandering the streets the other day and stumbled across it quite unexpectedly. It's very snug and I wouldn't recommend coming in here with lots of shopping unless you want to really struggle through the nooks and crannies that are the space between the bar and the exit. They have seats outside so you can enjoy a cold pub coke or a pint or two of your favourite real ale in peace.
If you want a homely, comfy seat and a pint away from the rest of the world that descend on the surrounding pubs then this is a little hidden treasure of a pub. Just don't tell all your friends if you want to keep it that way! -

An interesting little pub tucked away in the Georgian enclave not far from the Anglican Cathedral. It reopened a few years ago having been closed for several years. The pub is Grade II Listed Building - part of a late Georgian terrace.
Inside, it is a traditional, cosy two-room pub, with a well preserved interior, including nicely etched and cut glass screens on one side of the bar, and etched windows to the street.
There's a small outside area for smokers.
It serves a small but good range of real ales, and the staff are friendly (although I had to ask for the pints to be topped up). It's popular with students, but quieter during the holidays. Overall, not a bad place for a pint.
